Before you buy any guitar course (for example, the Jamorama guitar course)that offers instructions for beginner guitar players; be sure you at least be fairly familiar with the different aspects of the musical instument.  As we know it today, the guitar, is absolutely an old instrument.

The acoustic guitar has been around since the late 1700's.  The electric guitar was introduced in the 1930's.It doesn't matter which type of guitar you are going to be playing, they both have the main attributes the same.  The only real difference is the electric guitar is hooked up to an amplifier. By knowing more about the parts of your guitar, you'll be a superior guitar player.

Here are the parts of a guitar:headstock, tuners, nut, the guitar neck, the bridge, body and sound hole.. Each of these partshave a vital role in giving the guitar its sound and making it work. Even if one part mentioned above would be taken away, or altered; all the play guitar for beginners lessons in the world wouldn't help, because the sound would not be right.

Holding the guitar pick is next. Some beginners decide not touse a pick to play the guitar. Not using a pick can be incredibly painful to your fingers. The hand holding the pickmust be opened and your palm should face you. Next, while making a loose fist, your thumb should staybeside your index finger. Turn your hand with your knuckle of your thumb facing you.

After learning that, beginners like you should learn how to tune the guitar before you play it. There are video courses online that teach how to tune a guitar on your own without using any electronic tuner. (The Jamorama Beginner's guitar course for beginners also includes tuning your guitar.)

The next part is to learn the scales. Most play guitar for beginners instruction will include how to play guitar scales in the lessons.  Beginners need to know which finger to use whenpressing a specific guitar string. The thumb will not get used for pressing strings. But once you become a professional guitar player, you may chose to use it. But the thumb is actually just a support. The left over four fingers press down on the stringsto cause a guitar chord.

Lastly, you are now ready to play your first guitar chord. Get going by looking at illustrated chord charts and follow the instructions. Memorize them all and practice along with your favorite songs.

Remember, these are just the basics. There are still a lot of things beginners like you should learn, to play the guitar like a professional.  The additional material can be quickly and easily learned with play guitar for beginners lessons.

I highly recommend the Jamorama Online Beginner's Guitar Course.  You can read the Jamorama Review to get more information.
