Guitar heroes are made, not born
< I was not even 10 years old when I knew I had to play guitar. My guitar heroes were the Beatles and Clapton and classical Segovia. The guitar seemed to me to be a spellbinding instrument and I just had to learn how to play.My days and nights were filled with learning guitar. I learned mostly from friends and records, yes records, remember them?.The internet and online learning had not come into being, these were pre-historic times indeed. Today you have so much information available to you it is unimaginable. Sometimes, however when you have so much knowledge it is easy to stray off course from your initial objective. The best way is to have a plan, a teacher and a course in order to progress. Although I certainly recommend teachers in general, it can be very expensive at first to waste money on the very basics of learning guitar. With your online courses, you can study when you want to and it does not cost you any extra if you want to play the same jam track over and over again. The videos that are used these days are top notch and are a valuable tool for learning. I was very motivated when I started out and I taught myself a great deal. You may not be able to learn all by yourself so easily. It is very fortunate that online courses have included in them all the material to help you be the guitar hero you want to be, or simply to play for your own pleasure. You will of course try many books on your own. I hope you will try some folk guitar books as all guitar starts with basic strums and easy fingering coupled with familiar songs we all know. The teacher can be a most important part of any learning experience, be it learning to sing or how to play piano or guitar playing. The teacher can unfortunately be not suited to your temperament or aptitude also. If your teacher is a rocker, he may not be the one to teach you classical guitar, for example. You can spend a whole lot of money on teachers so I would recommend, at least at first to try an online program which is about the cost of a couple of lessons. You can get a lot of mileage from it and you will know what to do next. At first learning how to play guitar is perplexing . The guitar is unlike piano in the respect that it is not easy to see the chord positions; the guitar has many different positions for the same chord. While just starting, all of this in combination with left and right hand techniques as well as tab and different tunings and it can very quickly become overwhelming. You are so fortunate to have before you this wonderful journey to learn guitar; enjoy every minute of it. You will not be sorry.
